your internet connection below and click the
corresponding button to begin the site test.

| Low Speed (ISDN) |
|
| High Speed (Wireless, DSL, Cable) |
|

1. Your browser
requests the speed test page from our web server

2. The web page
instructs your browser to record the "start
time"

3. Right after an image
file is downloaded from the speed test server

4. As soon as the
download is done the "end time" is recorded

5. The transfer speed is
calculated and sent to the results page

Our test server:
Our test server is located in Nelsonville, Wisconsin.
The more networks that the data has to cross, the more
factors other than your connection will contribute to
the result. Users in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South
America will have less accurate (often lower) results
until we add servers closer to you.

Why don't the
results display for me?
Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser and
that you aren't using any ad-blocker software or other
programs that affect the browser.
Why are my results different
every time I run the test?
The varying amount of data
traffic on the Internet (and your own LAN if applicable)
affects the speed of any connection at any given time.
Other speed test sites give
different results than yours, which is correct?
In addition to varying traffic,
the data will travel across different networks depending
on where the server is located.
Will browsing the Internet at
the same time affect the test?
Yes.
The IP address shown is not the
IP of my computer. What is going on?
If a gateway is being used then
the IP shown will be of the gateway, not your actual
machine. This does not affect the test.
How can I get a
record of the results?
A screen capture is your best
bet. In windows press Alt-PrtScn (the Print
Screen key) then open an image editor, create a new
image, and "paste".
